Happy Sunday!

If you find yourself reading this newsletter from Paris, France, I have some good news for you: The towers of Notre-Dame reopened to the public yesterday. As part of the European Heritage Days, visitors will have the opportunity to climb to the top of the towers, which were completely restored following the 2019 fire. All you have to do is walk up 424 stairs to get to the top. Ouch!

πŸ‘— Thrifted show

We all know that thrifting is all the rage, but did you know that there was an entirely thrifted collection at this year’s New York Fashion Week?

That’s right, U.S. not-for-profit Goodwill collaborated with local designer Evan Hirsch to shine a light on sustainability this fashion week. The show, held on Monday last week, featured dozens of looks, which Hirsch sourced entirely from Goodwill stores around the U.S.

Organisers described the show as β€œan incredible celebration of bold self-expression, sustainable fashion, and the beauty of secondhand finds.” Outfits featured in the show will be up for sale in an upcoming online charity auction.

It’s the circular economy in motion!

πŸ“Έ Photo of the week

You’re looking at the winner from this year’s Ocean Photographer of the Year awards. Indonesia-based photographer Yury Ivanov captured his picture of two amphipods – each measuring around 3mm in length – resting on coral.

Ivanov said the shot "reveals an intimate glimpse of underwater life that is often overlooked."

They’re so cute ☺️

🎡 Feel good song of the week

WHERE IS MY HUSBAND! - RAYE (2025)

TDA’s Copy Editor Lucy wanted to shoutout Raye’s new song, and it’s safe to say we all LOVE it.

She said: β€œI’ve been impatiently awaiting this song ever since Raye performed it live at Glastonbury earlier this year. It’s ideal cleaning-the-house music, just in time for your Sunday reset πŸ«§β€

πŸ’Έ A gift to charity

A woman in Virginia who won the lottery has donated the entirety of her winnings to charity.

Carrie Edwards won $150,000 earlier this month and immediately announced she was going to donate the cash to three charities.

The first allotment of money went to an early-onset dementia research organisation in honour of Edwards’ late husband, while the remainder went to a non-profit food justice organisation.

Edwards said: β€œI feel blessed that this unexpected lottery win can serve a greater purpose.”

😊 Feel-good account of the week

Ok so this is a bit of a random one, but I've recently stumbled across an account called Georgia Hair, which is a wig service in the U.S.

The reason I love this account so much is that you learn each of the women’s cancer stories about why they’re getting a wig, and the owner treats each customer with such grace and compassion.

The look on these women’s faces when they see themselves with a head of hair for the first time post-treatment is so special to witness.

🐢 Fly with your pet

This week marked the first time that pet owners can now book tickets to bring their small dogs and cats on Virgin Australia flights. The airline’s Pets in Cabin service officially went on Wednesday, ahead of the first services departing on 16 October.

Virgin said it’s launching the initiative across select flights between Melbourne, the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast, before expanding the service to all eligible domestic flights in 2026.

Virgin CEO Dave Emerson said β€œwith almost 70 percent of households owning a pet, we expect the service to be embraced by pet lovers all around the country.” A limit of four pets will be permitted on each flight, and will cost passengers an extra $149 per animal.

You best believe I’m expecting to be seated next to a cute pooch next time I fly.
